Coconut Oil & blood sugar levels & dark circles under the eyes

I recently purchased a large pile of books & DVD’s from raw food expert David Wolfe. I seem to have a knack of opening books and flipping through to find a really useful and timely piece of information. While looking through the copy of Eating For Beauty, I found such a piece of information. It’s about blood sugar, coconut oil, dark circles under the eyes and adrenal fatigue.

I have recently been increasing the amount of coconut oil in my diet because of it’s many health benefits. Today I learnt of another one that I had noticed in my own health, but didn’t realise it was the coconut oil. One of the noticeable changes when having a good amount of coconut oil in your diet is the ability to go several hours without feeling hungry or having those low blood sugar swings, or hypoglycemia.

Erratic blood sugar levels, while putting a strain on the pancreas to¬†produce insulin, also puts a straign on the adrenal glands, as low blood sugar is a signal for the fight or flight response and for adrenal hormones to be released. The regular consumption of coconut oil helps to stabilise the blood sugar levels, decreasing the need for a rush of adrenalin and in turn, can help to remove dark circles from the eyes, as adrenal stress can cause dark circles around the eyes. I didn’t know THAT little gem until tonight either.

So, the thing I noticed a coupel of weeks ago that the dark circles under my eyes were starting to become a little less noticable, and I wasn’t sure why. Now I’m pretty sure it’s a combination of the increased consumption of coconut oil and a practitioner prescribed herbal adrenal tonic I have been taking to treat the symptoms of adrenal fatigue.
